Karsten has over 10 years of expertise in environmental evaluation and GIS. His specialties include spatial analysis, teaching GIS classes, and the implementation of open source web GIS. His main interests are in sustainable development, natural resources, and social justice. Karsten's background is in Geography and Soil Science and he holds a Diploma from the University of Stuttgart, Germany, and a Master’s Degree from UC Berkeley.
